Advise people to rinse their hands in cold water when the activity is finished Children must be supervised by an adult. Unattended children may not participate
Eyes stinging and irritation Mostly children Pre-school children must be supervised by their parent or guardian. Tell children not to put their fingers in their eyes. Advise people to rinse their hands in cold water when the activity is finished Water in a glass may be used as an eye wash if needed
Falling on slippery surface Staff and public Do not make snow on any surface which may become slippery when foam lands on it. Do not make snow in areas where there are stairs or level changes Organisers must provide a safe, non-potentially-slippy place for this activity. Organiser must provide a dedicated space for this activity if done in public
Choking on foam or breathing difficulties Staff and public Organisers provide water at no charge if foam is swallowed. Organisers provide first aid or call emergency services if needed
Electrocution Staff and public Do not do this activity near electrical equipment or near trailing wires Snow making is a wet activity – be aware of electrical hazards
Lifting heavy equipment Staff Operators must use correct lifting procedure
Hot water burns Staff Use caution when working with hot water
Snow fluid causing irritation Staff Use gloves and goggles when working with snow fluid. Use towels to mop up any spilled liquid immediately.
Damage to clothing and possessions Staff and public Staff understand and accept responsibility for damage to their clothing and possessions when working with the snow machine. Staff inform public of this potential damage and to cover up anything they do not want to come into contact with the foam
